Align your brand with Erik The Travel Guy, Emmy Award-winning host of the PBS travel series “Beyond Your Backyard”, to amplify your brand story to our loyal, affluent travel audience. With 15-years helping travel and tourism brands share their story, we’ve listened and adapted to today’s challenges. As the travel and hospitality industry emerges from Covid-19 restrictions, we are scheduled to release ten episodes in our fifth season of programming in January 2023. The series educates viewers of all ages on the cultural relevance and historical significance of places to visit as well as instances where locals are helping their neighbors, community and protecting the environment and its valuable resources.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Your :15 second brand message will appear at the beginning and end of all ten episodes of Beyond Your Back Yard's fifth season of episodes.

In PBS terms, by participating in a sponsorship program, your brand is considered a program “underwriter”. Meaning, your brand supported the creation of the program the viewer is about to watch. This advertising real estate is limited to four (4) short messages. The same messages appear at the conclusion of each program as well.  ​Each episode is broadcast nationally on PBS stations and the create channel. The additional value of the sponsorship is in the replays on the network.

All sponsored episodes can air for up to three years at the discretion of each local PBS station. There is no additional charge for exposure in year two and three. Based on previous seasons, we project each Underwriter message will be broadcast 23,156 times in the first year of the original broadcast date. In year two, we project 11,578 and 5,280 in year three. Total projected broadcast airings over three years are projected to be 40,014.

Beyond Your Backyard is projected to achieve a 1 to 2 rating cumulatively per episode. a level which is in line with PBS estimates across departs. Based on this an a audience universe of 186,000,000, we can reasonably expect your sponsorship to reach no less than 1,860,000 people per episode, More than 50% of the Beyond Your Backyard audience is aged 50+.

Beyond Your Backyard is an Emmy award-winning, educational travel series highlighting destinations in North America and beyond demonstrating there’s so much more that brings us together than divides us. Each episode is focused on one geographic place. Erik is looking for meaningful stories to bring to his viewers. Emmy award-winning television personality Erik Hastings (Erik the Travel Guy) travels beyond experiences to uncover the soul of every place he visits. Each episode digs deep to educate viewers on the history and culture, delicious food, famous attractions as well as off-the-beaten-path haunts; reminding viewers us how exciting it is to share and understand one another and just how connected we really are.

MEET ERIK THE TRAVEL GUY

My name is Erik Hastings, (a.k.a. Erik the Travel Guy) and I am an EMMY award-winning television personality who speaks directly to viewers who simply "get their vacations wrong". In addition to being a single dad of two amazing children, I am the host and managing editor of the internationally syndicated television series "Beyond Your Backyard" for public broadcasting stations (PBS) and other networks/VOD platforms. I am thrilled to be a part of an incredibly talented team of industry pros and the editorial driving force of my media platform. While the travel industry directly supports millions of families worldwide, I believe travel makes the world a better place.
